I help adults and teens learn to deal with their emotions.

I love working with Students and Young Adults (ages 13-35). I can help with both functional problems and relationship issues. I can help with goal setting, time management, getting connected to resources, navigating work/life balance, and teaching you how to cope with stress. Are you not getting what you need out of your closest relationships? I can help with friendship issues, communication in relationships, and improving relationships with family members. I bring positive energy and a genuine interest in getting to know you.

How I can help

Many of my clients are feeling disconnected, uncertain about who they are or how to find their place in the world. They may be avoiding difficult conversations because they don’t know how to verbalize what they are feeling. They might not even know what they want or need. I like working with Young people because they have a lot of energy, even if they don’t always know how to channel it. I can help with Identity exploration, and I am open to discussing issues related to spirituality as well. I can guide you on your path, but I want you know that I am walking it as well. I am open minded, humble, and encouraging.

Counseling for students

Are you a student navigating the challenges of academic life? I have been there, and I get it! Counseling can be a vital resource to help you overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. I offer a supportive environment where you can explore your feelings, develop coping strategies, and enhance your overall well-being.

I specialize in working with issues commonly faced by students, including stress management, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Through personalized counseling sessions, you will gain valuable insights that empower you to make positive changes in your life.

Investing in your mental health is just as important as your academic success. By addressing your concerns and learning effective skills for resilience, you can enhance your focus, improve your grades, and enhance your overall experience as a student.

Don’t let the pressures of academic life hold you back. Reach out to today and take the first step toward a healthier, happier you. I want to see you thrive!

Therapy for Young Men of Color

While I work with people from all backgrounds, I believe that therapy can be an especially transformative journey for young Black and Brown men who are struggling. In a society where emotional expression often feels stigmatized, therapy is one place where you can let it all out without judgment.

By providing Counseling for Men of Color, I offer the opportunity to address unique challenges that often arise from cultural expectations, systemic pressures, and personal experiences. I can help you with developing coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and depression, which are often compounded in today's fast-paced world.

By coming to therapy, young Black and Brown men can cultivate resilience, improve self-esteem, and enhance relationships. I can help provide tools to teach you to articulate feelings and foster communication skills, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves in various areas of life—be it personal, academic, or professional.

Moreover, therapy is about self-discovery. It can help uncover strengths and passions, guiding young Black and Brown men toward their potential and purpose. The process of talking, reflecting, and understanding oneself can truly lead to a shift in perspective and open new doors for growth and healing.

Investing in mental health is essential, and seeking therapy is a courageous step toward a fulfilled, balanced life. Embrace the opportunity to shift the narrative and pave the way for a brighter future. Remember, you are not alone, and support is available.

If I am not in network with your insurance type, and you’d like to get tips for how to get therapy covered, here is a good read.

Why I became a therapist

I remember being a confused Young Man who was struggling with my courses when an academic advisor changed my life. I went through a few advisors during my early experiences in higher ed, and to be honest, most didn’t seem to care. But, this one advisor saw me, and made me feel valued. She saw the potential in me and it changed my world. She helped me find direction and showed me how to take actionable steps to get to where I wanted to be. I became a therapist because I would like to give back the kind of energy that I received. Our time together gave me hope and motivation. I would like to pay her efforts forward by helping others find hope and motivation as well.
